50 km east of Malaga you will find the small town of Nerja, perched on a cliff with a stunning mountain backdrop. This white town with its small narrow streets has managed to preserve its charm unlike cities such as Malaga and Marbella. There is a pleasant calm and relaxed atmosphere in the town. The youth would not consider coming here to party. The town has a rich variety of restaurants, cafes, small shops and hotels.
In the town centre of Nerja is located Balcon de Europa (Balcony of Europe) and from this round terrace viewpoint built over the cliffs there are commanding views of the ocean, beaches, caves, coves and the mountain range Sierra de Almijara .
A few kilometres east of Nerja by the small town of Maro, is one of the largest limestone caves in the world. The caves are open for public visits. The amazing formations are definitely worth the trip. Every summer comes local and international musicians and artists to perform at the festival as one of the caves is transformed into a concert hall.
